This is the series-closing volume of Family Formation. It considers what remains when a generation that once directed the family can no longer govern its daily life. Its emphasis moves from legacy toward faithfulness, with a Christian culmination in Christ, resurrection and New Creation. The governing question is: What should remain after our season of leadership is over? The governing principle is: Legacy is not primarily what you leave to people. It is what has been formed in people because you lived among them. The book begins with adult children and the change from authority to relationship. It examines counsel that can be declined, adult households, spouses, differing memories, apologies, boundaries and estrangement. It then turns toward siblings, aging parents, caregiving and grandparents whose contribution must support rather than compete with a child’s parents. Family stories and inheritance require truthful stewardship. Memories should not become propaganda, and possessions should not become a mechanism for continuing control. Lifelong support planning includes the adult’s voice, housing, benefits, caregiving, financial provision and succession. The book does not assume every person will become independent or every sibling can become a caregiver. Its later Parts consider family work, leadership transition, faith beyond inherited custom, necessary conversations, receiving help, death, grief, blessing and preparation for absence. The conclusion completes the series arc from creation through Christ toward resurrection and New Creation. A life does not become spiritually barren because it leaves no bloodline or cannot guarantee descendants’ faith.
