I wrote it because I kept seeing leadership discussed in ways that left no room for truth in more than one direction. Some people used the burden of leadership to excuse harm. Others judged every difficult decision from outside the room as though incomplete information were complete knowledge. I wanted to restore a biblical posture that can examine the crown and the crowd.
Heavy Is the Head
Authority, Discernment, and Leadership in an Age That Has Lost Its Framework
Leadership looks simple from a distance.

Start here for the clearest reason to read this book. Continue into the full profile when you want its larger context.
I wrote it for people who lead, people who have been harmed by leadership, people who distrust institutions, people who feel pulled toward political rescue, and people trying to speak truth without becoming cruel. I also wrote it for ordinary readers who may not think of themselves as leaders but already carry influence in a family, workplace, church, or community.

Understand the book before you choose it.
Leadership looks simple from a distance. From inside responsibility, it feels like weight. Heavy Is the Head examines authority, judgment, institutional trust, public speech, leadership failure, restraint, accountability, and shared responsibility in an age trained for instant certainty. Will Bourne invites leaders and observers alike to move beyond saviors, villains, reaction, and spectacle toward truthful discernment, moral courage, accountable stewardship, and the character required to carry consequential responsibility with others under God.

The conversation begins beneath the crown, title, platform, uniform, office, or role. Authority may be public or nearly invisible, but whenever another person’s wellbeing, safety, trust, resources, or future can be affected, leadership carries weight.
