I wrote it because many believers have been taught that God could not forgive until blood made forgiveness possible. Then they open the Gospels and watch Jesus forgive people before Calvary. That creates a real question. I do not think the answer is to minimize the cross. I think the answer is to stop making the cross smaller than Jesus. Mercy did not suddenly appear in God on Good Friday.
