Awake • Align • Act is the shared formation rhythm of the Bourne Again work. It gives simple language to a lifelong movement: see what is true, bring life beneath the way of Jesus, and let truth become visible in faithful practice.
It is not a three-step self-help formula. It does not promise control, instant change, or a life without grief, limitation, conflict, or need for help. It is a rhythm we return to as the Spirit continues to form us.
Awake
To awake is to become attentive. We notice what Scripture reveals, what the Spirit is bringing to conviction, what our choices are producing, what another person’s experience may be showing us, and what our bodies, habits, institutions, and environments have been teaching us.
Awakening is more than collecting information. It includes the courage to see without denial and the humility to admit that seeing clearly does not mean we have already changed.
Align
Alignment brings belief, desire, character, relationships, power, and responsibility beneath the lordship of Jesus. Scripture provides the governing witness. Prayer, abiding, wise community, repentance, counsel, and appropriate care help us discern what faithfulness requires.
Alignment is not pretending every tension has disappeared. It is the honest turning of a life toward Christ, including the acceptance of correction, consequence, boundary, or repair when those are necessary.
Act
Action moves truth into practice. It may look like an apology, a changed habit, a truthful conversation, patient service, a boundary, restitution, a report, a request for help, renewed discipline, or the decision to stop participating in harm.
Action should be proportionate to what is true, within our authority, attentive to those affected, and open to accountability. Activity alone is not faithfulness. The goal is obedience shaped by love and wisdom.
A rhythm, not a ladder
We do not graduate from awareness and leave it behind. Action often reveals something new that requires fresh attention. Alignment may uncover a motive that needs deeper surrender. A setback may send us back to the truth with greater honesty.
The movements overlap and repeat. Grace holds the entire process. We are not earning God’s love by moving through stages. We are learning to live responsively within the love we have received.
Where do I begin?
Begin with one real question. What is becoming visible? What does Scripture and the way of Jesus call you toward? What faithful response is actually available now?
Awake without contempt. Align without performance. Act without pretending one action completes the work. Then remain open to what Christ forms next.
